
The nominees for the 85th Annual Academy Awards were announced this January 10th 2012. The race to the top just got serious when Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone announced the forerunners in this year’s Oscars. Lincoln leads with 12 Academy Award nominations which include Best Director for Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis gets nominated for Best Actor. Life of Pi follows in suit with 11 nominations, Silver Linings Playbook and Les Miserables are tied in third grabbing eight nominations each.
Noted actors dotted this year’s acting categories starting with Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln), Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables), Joaquin Phoenix (The Master), Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings) and Denzel Washington (Flight) are all competing for the Best Actor category. Nominated for the Best Actress column are Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Emmanuelle Riva (Amour), Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings), Naomi Watts (The Impossible) and Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild).
