Bel Ami – An Adaptation Of A French Novel Starring Robert Pattinson

Bel Ami is a new movie starring Robert Pattinson, Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas. Bel Ami is going to be shown in theaters on March 2nd 2012. This new drama film is an adaptation of an 1885 French novel with the same name. The author of Bel Ami is Guy de Maupassant who is a popular 19th century French writer. Maupassant is also known as one of the fathers of modern short stories. Bel Ami will bring you through excerpts in the life of a man and his rise to fame and the things he had to do in order to achieve his goal. Here’s what can be expected from Bel Ami:

Bel Ami is an entry to the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival this February 2012. The film festival started last February 9th and will last until February 19th 2012. Bel Ami will hold its premiere in this known film festival. The director of the film, Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod worked together to bring to life the tale of Bel Ami. They were joined by screenwriter Rachel Bennett who worked around the novel of Guy de Maupassant to create a great script for Bel Ami. Bel Ami is rated R due to strong sexual scenes in the movie, nudity and some brief languages. This new drama movie is produced by 19 Entertainment, Rai Cinema, Protagonist Pictures and Redwave Films.

Bel Ami is the story of a young man Georges Duroy (Robert Pattinson) who wants to create a name for himself. He is a soldier with not enough money to be part of the elite group in Paris. He then seeks to become part of the rich and famous by involving himself with three women who could make a name for him. All these betrayals and deceptions is Duroy’s plan to achieve his ultimate goal: To make a fortune and a name for himself. Uma Thurman plays the character Madeleine Forestier who is involved with Duroy along with Madame Walter (Kristin scott Thomas) and Clotilde de Marelle (Christina Ricci). All these things will eventually create trouble and a lot of confusion for Georges Duroy on what he really wants in his life.

Bel Ami is one of the most anticipated films this year. Fans of the well known author, Maupassant would like to see the novel in the big screen and how the directors and actors translated it. Although, not everyone is excited about the portrayal of Robert Pattinson in the movie Bel Ami. Here’s a short quote from a critic from belamifilm.com: But Pattinson himself is a problem as Duroy. He displays the character’s ruthlessness adequately and his wolfish smile is a useful weapon in his regard. But he seems ill-at-ease in terms of playing a period role.

Still, there are still a lot of people who want to see this film as it arrives to theaters worldwide on March 2nd 2012 and according to Hollywood Life “I think Rob did a very good job, he plays angry and frustrated very well. He wasn’t very likeable, which was how it’s supposed to be, if I understand what the book is about.”
