Haywire is coming and Stephen Soderbergh, an Oscar award winning director is back with an action film that will surely bring audiences to the edge of their seat. The Haywire movie, starring mixed martial artist Gina Corano is packed with an exciting plot that will bring audiences a whole new experience when it comes to action films. Soderbergh, who is best known for directing the oceans Eleven movies, won his Oscars for Best Director on the film “Traffic” and four other awards. He was also nominated for an Oscar in the Best Director category for “Erin Brokovich”. He is back with an amazing cast and story to bring a whole new creation to the big screen.
Soderbergh has cast Gina Corano as the driving force of the Haywire movie. Gina Corano plays the character Mallory Kane who is a freelance covert operative. She is hired by numerous agencies who are in need of her expertise and services. Kane (Corano) has a handler who gives her assignments that are not government sanctioned. The twist of the story begins after she comes back from a covert operation in Dublin. She finds out that she has been betrayed and must now use the skills she learned to prove her innocence and protect her family. The film will surely bring theater goers a great mix of action, betrayal, wit and revenge.
Gina Corano is a well known mixed martial arts’ icon around the world. She was first seen in the American Gladiator and was known as the Face of Women’s Mixed Martial Arts. Carano’s mixed martial arts’ passion started with Muay Thai and she was able to excel in this sport which earned her a record of 12-1-1. She was also ranked third in the Unified Women’s MMA in the 145 pound female fighter category around the world. Her passion for the sport gave her the real life know-how in portraying her character in the Haywire.
In an interview at the 2011 Comic Con, Carono described how she did 90% of her own stunts in this action/thriller. Working side by side with amazing actors like: Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum and Michael Douglas, this movie will leap beyond bounds as soon as it hits the big screen on January 20, 2012.
Crave Online has already weighed in on the Haywire movie, saying that this film is a true form of Soderbergh and Carano’s abilities to produce an amazing action film. The critics from opposingviews.com say that Haywire certainly has the potential to be something special.
