“Spielberg May Give Fans a Sneak Peak On Lincoln At The New York Film Festival
New York Film Festival attendees may get a sneak peek of Steven Spielberg’s biopic “Lincoln” on Monday.
According to Entertainment Weekly , it is possible that an unfinished version of the highly anticipated film will show at the festival, which runs from September 28 through October 14. The same happened when Martin Scorcese’s “Hugo” made a surprise yet unfinished appearance at last year’s NYFF,Deadline reports. Regardless, “Lincoln” will officially premiere at the closing night gala of the AFI Fest 2012 on November 8.
“Lincoln” stars Daniel Day-Lewis as Honest Abe himself, Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robert Todd Lincoln and Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens. The presidential film portrays the 16th president’s final months, struggling to end the Civil War and abolish slavery. The biopic will hit theaters nationwide November 16.Spielberg, former CSULB student , also directed the hugely popular “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial,” which celebrates its 30th anniversary and hits store shelves on Blu-ray for the first time on Tuesday. The changes to the film that were made for its theatrical release 10 years ago – including replacing guns with walkie-talkies – have been taken out to restore the movie to its original format that the fans know and love.”

Also, the latest Lincoln trailer definitely touched the hearts of a lot of people when it came out. Here’s a quick recap on this event written by James White:
“Fresh Scenes for Spielberg’s Lincoln
The summer wannabe blockbusters have the Super Bowl as their big ad launching point, but there’s rarely a comparable spot for Oscar bait prestige pics. Unless, of course, you are Steven Spielberg, your film is Lincoln, and it happens to be arriving in a US election year, with a sure-fire telly ratings monster in the debates. The DreamWorks / Fox team took full advantage, putting out a new extended TV spot for the movie that you can watch above.
So hefty is this spot that it’s effectively a new trailer for the film, and effective is certainly a word you could use to describe it, putting the focus firmly back on Daniel Day-Lewis’ speech-happy performance as the man himself.
There are a few moments and lines we’ve seen before, but they’re wrapped around plenty of new material and good scenes for the likes of Sally Field (as Mary Todd Lincoln) and Tommy Lee Jones (as Thaddeus Stevens). It’s the sort of stirring visual / audio treat that makes you wish we had more people like Honest Abe in politics these days.”
