Prometheus is bound to create a new story for sci-fi lovers all over the world this year. Directed by Ridley Scott, Prometheus can be thought of as a prequel to Ridley Scott’s “Alien” film in 1979. Although the script was revolutionized and given a certain degree of perusing which resulted to an independent and yet slightly connected story to the Alien franchise. Ridley Scott is an amazing director who is known for his films: Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, Gladiator, Hannibal and Robin Hood. He has been nominated for 3 Oscars and has won 13 awards in numerous film festivals. He is back to bring Prometheus to the big screen and give people a new dish when it comes to the ever changing world of science fiction.
Noomi Rapace is best known for her role as Lisbeth Salander in the 2009 adaptation of the best-selling book “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”. This year she will be taking on the character of Elizabeth Shaw in the film Prometheus. An archeologist and scientist, Shaw was once a believer but certain events in her life lead her to live a life as warrior. Fighting not only for a last strand of hope but for answers that will give mankind its existence.
Michael Fassbender plays the character of David in the film. David is an android, an advanced creation that is responsible for maintaining the ship. David is termed as an advanced creation due to the fact that he is indistinguishable from a human being. This android however starts to develop feelings of insecurities, ego and envy. Ridley Scott wanted to show a robot’s perspective on the events that will transpire in the film, thus the creation of this character.
Charlize Theron is Meredith Vickers, a Weyland Corporation employee who was sent with the team to monitor the progress of the search. She is described as a tough and beautiful woman who has a different agenda in mind. Her true identity will be revealed piece by piece as the film comes to full circle. It would really be interesting on how Charlize Theron’s character and portrayal will be featured in the film: Prometheus.
The main cast are also joined by other noted actors such as: Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, Shawn Harris and Patrick Wilson.
Ever since the trailer of Prometheus was released, there had been an air of mystery to what is happening in the film. It gives people a taste of what’s to come and still leaves them wondering. Rotten Tomatoes’ users gave a poll of 98%, expressing their willingness to watch the film. Also, The Guardian gave their initial take to Ridley Scott’s new sci-fi film: Prometheus, Ridley Scott’s return to science fiction after more than three decades, continues to look like a bright and shiny, epic and panoramic take on what was originally a claustrophobic, grimy slasher flick-in-space premise, but 20th Century Fox is doing a great job of tying the new film to the best bits of the previous instalments.
Prometheus will land in the big screen on June 8th 2012.
