Red Lights is an upcoming Mystery & Suspense film directed by Rodrigo Cortés. This new film stars Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy. Red Lights revolves around the story of a couple of veteran paranormal researchers who are on a mission to debunk any fraudulent claims of paranormal activities by looking for “red lights”. Red lights are the subtle tricks that are behind every single paranormal or psychic occurrence in this current time. This new movie will surely bring audiences into a realm of the unknown and will surely leave them with questions that will haunt them for the rest of the day. In the movie Red Lights Sigourney Weaver plays the character of Dr. Margaret Matheson, a veteran paranormal researcher who is very skilled in finding red lights in any reported paranormal incident. She is accompanied by Tom Buckley (played by Cillian Murphy) as they go on looking for the truth in these occurrences. Until the unexpected happens when the legendary blind psychic Simon Silver (played by Robert De Niro) starts on the journey to the unknown once again after 30 years. Tom Buckley now wants to find the truth when it comes to this well-known psychic but is discouraged by Dr. Matheson for fear of getting a reprisal from Silver. Buckley is then more determined to expose Simon Silver and his star student Sally Owen (played by Elizabeth Olsen) goes with him on the project. They start using every single tool at their disposal to uncover the truth behind this psychic. Although, the more they dig deeper, the more does Buckley finds himself questioning his beliefs. The main casts are also joined by Joely Richardson as Monica Handsen, Toby Jones as Dr. Paul Shackleton, Burn Gorman as Benedict Cosell and Leonardo Sbaraglia as Palladino.
Red Lights is directed and written by award winning director/writer, Rodrigo Cortés. This upcoming film by Rodrigo Cortés is also produced by Nostromo Pictures, Cindy Cowan Entertainment and Antena 3 Films. The theatrical release of Red Lights in the United States will be on July 13th 2012 and will be handled by Millennium Entertainment. The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) also gave the film a Rated-R for violence and some language. Alison Jones from Birmingham Post says that: Red Lights has an interesting premise and Weaver is on top form at the start.
Shaun Munro of Get Culture also gave his comment on this upcoming Mystery film, she said “The journey certainly proves more rewarding than the destination, but quite a journey it is.”
Although, Donald Clarke have a different point of view with the film: It begins in reasonably sensible fashion before descending into a morass of wild plot turns that betray both the characters and the audience.
