Rock of Ages, directed by Adam Shankman will bring a whole new story about a small town girl named Sherrie played by Julianne Hough and boy from the city, Drew played by Diego Boneta. The link that brings this pair is their Hollywood dreams and this dream will be presented through rock and roll music by legendary bands. Their romance will leave people’s heart pounding with the hit music of Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Def Leppard, Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison and so much more. Rock Of Ages features other noted actors like: Russell Brand , Paul Giamatti , Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin. “Early News For The Upcoming Film: Rock Of Ages

“Rock of Ages,” the new movie based on the hit Broadway musical, promises a blast of ’80s nostalgia in the form of hair-metal band favorites by such acts as Journey, Pat Benatar, Styx, Twisted Sister and Bon Jovi.

The movie, directed by Adam Shankman, is scheduled to be released in June. Warner Bros. has released the film’s first trailer, which you can watch below. Set in L.A. in 1987 — and filmed mostly in Florida — the movie follows an aspiring rocker (Diego Boneta) as he finds his way in the competitive music scene of the Sunset Strip.

The all-star supporting cast includes Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige and Tom Cruise as rock star Stacee Jaxx.

“Rock of Ages” opened on Broadway in 2009 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and later transferred to the Helen Hayes Theatre, where it is still running. The musical, written by Chris D’Arienzo and directed by Kristin Hanggi, had its beginnings in Los Angeles before making its way to New York. The musical has toured the country and is scheduled to return to the Pantages in March .

The Broadway and national touring productions starred “American Idol” alumnus Constantine Maroulis, who has a cameo role in the movie”

“Tom Cruise In Rock Of Ages

Up until now, we’ve seen glimpses of Stacee Jaxx. They’ve mostly been of the big tattooed wings on his back and his totally ripped torso. But in the just-released extended trailer for the movie remake of the smash Broadway jukebox musical “Rock of Ages,” we finally get to hear a bit more from Tom Cruise as faded ’80s metal icon Jaxx. In the final scene of the new two-and-a-half minute extended trailer , Cruise sings  Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive” like an arena-rocking champ as sparks rain down from the rafters and his flowing mane of hair and tight leather pants drive the crowd into a frenzy.

It just goes to show that all the research Cruise did to nail Jaxx paid off. “I just kind of studied the whole time period and read a lot of books,” he told MTV News  of his preparation for the role. The clip shows off even more of the star-stuffed cast, including a mustachioed Paul Giamatti, eternally psyched crowd-surfing club promoter Alec Baldwin, narrator Russell Brand, nerdy journalist Malin Akerman and, yes, a monkey in a studded leather jacket named “hey, man.”
