The Avengers Movie: Avenging the Other Superhero Films

The Avengers Movie is the sixth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which had already released The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man in 2008, Iron Man in 2010, and Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor in 2011. These movies have garnered box office acclaim and have been lauded by film critics. The Avengers film is currently in post-production and is set to have its worldwide screening starting May 4, 2012. After The Avengers, the people behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe are set to produce three more films under the franchise including Thor2 and Iron Man 3.

The Avengers Movie will follow a simple yet action-packed narrative. The film focus on Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate (S.H.I.E.L.D.) leader Nick Fury’s assemblage of the most high-profile superheroes in the Marvel Comics Universe in order to save the world from the threats of a new and malevolent enemy. The superheroes hired to take part in the Avenger Initiative include Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye among others. Iron Man is a billionaire philanthropist who had devised a mechanical suit that aids his evil-fighting initiatives alongside other high-technology tools and paraphernalia. Captain America is a World War II veteran who had achieved optimum physical prowess through an experimental serum. Hulk is the unfortunate victim of gamma radiation which had allowed him to turn into a powerful monster once excited or infuriated. Thor is the god of thunder who shifted from an arrogant deity to a well-meaning superhero. Black Widow and Hawkeye are highly trained spy working for S.H.I.E.L.D and are romantically involved. Most of the stars who played the title roles in the previous Marvel Universe Film franchise will reprise their respective roles except Eric Bana and Edward Norton who both acted as the Hulk character in the past.

The Avengers Movie will showcase some of Hollywood’s most prominent personalities. The A-list cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson. Other movie players are Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. This awe-inspiring casting is in itself something to watch out for and in fact, the interesting and motley crew of The Avengers is certainly creating considerable buzz online and in other media platforms.

The Avengers Movie is directed by Joss Whedon who also spearheaded the earlier Marvel Comics Film franchise installments namely Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. His other noteworthy accomplishments in film outside the Marvel franchise include Speed, Toy Story, and Alien Resurrection- all of which were penned by him. Story concept for The Avengers was created by Zak Penn and Joss Whedon, based on the original characters of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The screenplay itself was solely written by Director Joss Whedon.

The Avengers Movie is produced by Kevin Feige under the Marvel Studios. The budget for the film reached the staggering amount of 220 million dollars. That figure alone is enough to assure film fanatics that the film will be packing some serious heat. The movie will be distributed by Walt Disney Pictures and is set to be released on May 4, 2012.
The Avengers Movie truly one of the most anticipated films this year. Still a couple of months away from its actual theater run, the movie is already talked about in various media and social platforms.
