In 2009, The Hangover surprised audiences and critics alike to become one of the biggest comedy hits in recent memory. With a strong rating of 73 and a whopping $277+ million box office gross, it was no surprise that a sequel was soon delivered. While 2011’s The Hangover II did not garner the critical acclaim of its predecessor, it still gathered $250 million at the box office. Fans of the first two films, and comedy lovers in general, should be glad to know that a third entry is on the way! The Hangover III will certainly sate your appetite for the outrageous misadventures of Alan, Phil, and Stu. This time, however, there is no wedding or bachelor party – the men are on the road. What happens on their journey? You’ll have to see for yourself!
Set to release in May of this year, The Hangover III follows Phil, played once again by Bradley Cooper, Alan (Zach Galifianakis), and Stu (Ed Helms). Traveling across the country after the apparent death of Alan’s father, the three men run into trouble as they always do. Las Vegas is also rumored to be one of the stops along the way, but other locations are surely on the docket as well. Not many details have been revealed regarding The Hangover III, but director Todd Phillips had this to say of the movie’s plot:
The Hangover III is Alan’s story. He’s going through a crisis after the death of his father, [and] the Wolfpack is all he has. [the third film] brings the group back together when something from the first movie comes back to haunt them”.
How it will all play out is a mystery, but early trailers hint at a ridiculous cast of characters, a chain of unbelievable events, and plenty of moments that will have you rolling on the floor.

In what appears to be a film season overflowing with action and sci-fi, The Hangover III looks to take the top spot among comedies. Will it find the success of the first two? Perhaps. Even if it does not, the series has certainly been one of the most unexpected hits of the past few years.
