To Rome With Love in an upcoming romantic comedy film that is directed by Woody Allen. Woody Allen is known for his recent Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the movie Midnight in Paris. He is now back to bring a movie that is filled with amazing sceneries from Rome, a touch of comedy and the wholeness of love. Woody Allen is also the writer of To Rome With Love. On the release of this film in Rome, Woody Allen gave a short quote on what inspired him to do this movie “When I come to a place to make a movie, I give you my own impression of it, the things that strike me as dramatic or comic, that would be fun to see,” he said. “I have no great insights at all into Italian politics, Italian culture.” The film is set on different vignettes that will take upon the embodiment of each character and their story in this life.
Woody Allen definitely put some thought into the actors that he will star in To Rome With Love and he certainly didn’t miss out the opportunity to put his own acting skills to practice. To Rome With Love is going to feature actors: Woody Allen as Jerry (the father of Hayley and husband to Phyllis), Alec Baldwin as John, Penelope Cruz as Anna, Roberto Benigni as Leopoldo, Judy Davis as Phyllis and Alison Pill as Hayley. The rest of the cast will also be joined by Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig, Ellen Page and Carol Alt. To Rome With Love premiered in Rome (the city which brought inspiration to Woody Allen) last April 20th 2012. This movie will then be released in cinemas in the US this June 22nd 2012. In their article they said: To Rome took in more than the next five films in the rankings combined, and it more than tripled the box-office take of the previous weekend’s winner, thePeter Berg-directed sci-fi thriller Battleship, which earned $1.1 million, falling to second place in its second weekend of release.
Festival Director Stephanie Allian also gave her opinion on this movie that was presented in this year’s film festival: “I can’t think of a better way to kick off this year’s festival than with the original independent filmmaker himself, Woody Allen. It’s a true honor for Los Angeles to host the North American premiere of ‘To Rome With Love,’” Festival Director Stephanie Allain said in a statement.
