Total Recall is about to hit theatres on August 3rd 2012, Friday! It is based on the 1990 film under the same title which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid. This film is also based from a book that was written by Phillip K. Dick entitled “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” which came out in 1966. There have been some new twists to the Total Recall movie coming out this year since unlike in the original film, this new one omitted the trip to Mars. It also contains a strong political genre which can really make it interesting. It involves a combination of Western and Eastern influences which makes them the two nation states that are currently battling to win political power. Let’s take a look at what’s in store in this revamped Total Recall this summer.
Aside from the story, Total Recall will star new artists who have made their mark in Hollywood. Colin Farrell will be the leading role in this film as he plays the character of Douglas Quaid and he will also be joined by Kate Beckinsale as his wife, Lori Quaid. The main cast will also be joined by Jessica Biel (as Melina), Bryan Cranston (as Cohaagen), John Cho (as McClane) and Bill Nighy (as Kuato). Total Recall is directed by Len Wiseman and is written by James Vanderbilt, Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback. This action/adventure film was first announced to audiences last 2009 and it definitely gave fans of the original Total Recall something to look forward to. It will be released in Canada and US on Friday, August 3rd 2012. Total Recall is produced by Total Recall, Original Film and Rekall Productions. Columbia Pictures will be the main company who will handle the theatrical release of this film in the United States. It is rated PG 13 by the Motion Picture Association of America due to some sexual content, language, brief nudity and some intense sequences of sci-fi violence.
This year’s Total Recall is set on a futuristic political era in 2084 after a war that shook the entire world and divided the nation into two superpowers. These new empires are Euroamerica and New Shanghai who are battling each other to gain supremacy. This is where Douglas Quaid (Farrel) currently lives as factory worker who once in a while suffers violent nightmares. He is dissatisfied with his current lifestyle and decides to visit Rekall, a corporation that gives people an opportunity to have implanted memories of the lives they want. This is where Quaid finds out that his memories have been erased and he is shot at by armed men. He then returns home to his wife Lori (Beckinsale) who also tries to kill him and then he finds out that she is not really his wife but a spy. Douglas Quaid must now find the answers that will bring together a truth that everyone has been trying to keep from him all his life.
