While all of these things are happening she is also going through a long time affair with a married man, Mormon Sheriff Richard Tipton. Things seem to be getting out of hand and the struggles of this single mother will bring you to a rollercoaster ride of emotion. A touching and funny drama that covers the struggle of one person when it comes to keeping it together. Virginia received a local premiere recently and here’s an article on what can be expected on this upcoming movie:

Virginia Starring Ed Harris and Jennifer Connelly Introduced In A Local Premier

SAUGATUCK, MI — “Virginia,” the film starring Jennifer Connelly and Ed Harris that shot in West Michigan in 2009 , will make its local debut at the Waterfront Film Festival in June.

Written and directed by Dustin Lance Black, the movie will show at 9 p.m. June 16 at the Saugatuck Yacht Services venue. Tickets, $12, are on sale now at the Waterfront website . Filmmakers and some cast members will attend the screening, according to a press release.

“Virginia” is scheduled for a limited release in Los Angeles, New York and other markets in mid-May. The June 16 debut will be its first West Michigan screening.

The movie was filmed in Holland and several other lakeshore-area locales. The story is set in Virginia Beach. Connelly plays an eccentric single mother in a small town; she’s tangled in a longstanding affair with Harris’ sheriff, who’s running for office. Emma Roberts plays Harris’ daughter.

Formerly known as “What’s Wrong with Virginia?,” the movie, produced by Holland’s TicTock Studios, debuted at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. The movie has since been recut, and picked up by Entertainment One for distribution earlier this year.

The story is based loosely on events from Black’s childhood. “In the past, I’ve described my untraditional childhood to people and they’d say that it sounded so dark,” Black said in a press release. “I would tell them that it was actually a lot of fun. I got to do a lot of things that other children never got to do because the rules were so different.”
Black, who stirred up controversy at Hope College for speaking openly about homosexuality, won an Oscar for writing the screenplay for “Milk.” He most recently wrote the script for the biopic “J. Edgar.”

The Waterfront Film Festival will take place June 14-17 in downtown Saugatuck.”
