Natalie Portman ventures into the unknown in Annihilation trailer

Published

Alex Garland delivered a modern sci-fi classic with EX MACHINA, which made a star out of actress Alicia Vikander and shocked people when it won Best Visual Effects at the 2016 Oscars. Needless to say, people have been clamoring for his directorial follow-up, and that comes in the form of next year’s ANNIHILATION, an adaptation of the novel by Jeff VanderMeer. Natalie Portman leads of four women (Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tessa Thompson and Gina Rodriguez) in an area known as Area X. The area has been cut off from society, as other ventures have been stricken with suicides, mental trauma, and disappearances. There are some neat looking dear though. Watch the intense, majestic trailer above!

The first image for the movie dropped yesterday courtesy of EW, and in an interview Garland spoke about the beauty of the cursed Area X, saying that “The beauty part of it was quite important. Even when it’s grim, and something dark is happening, there’s quite an overt beauty, and we took pains to make sure that happened.” The movie does certainly look gorgeous, but deceptively so, as that beauty will certainly drive our protagonists mad.

ANNIHILATION arrives February 23, 2018.

Zendaya stars in tense and mysterious ‘Euphoria’ teaser

“Will we ever tire of tortured teen TV shows? All signs point to no as with the gripping teaser for HBO’s upcoming Euphoria starring Zendaya.

In the show’s first teaser, we meet Rue (Zendaya) whose declares that “if I could be a different person, I would.”

The tone points plaintively toward darkness – more 13 Reasons Why than Riverdale and with HBO’s freedom regarding sex and cursing.

The cast is rounded out by Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith and Sydney Sweeney. Creator Sam Levinson wrote and executive produced the series (so did Drake, nbd).

Euphoria premieres June 16 at 10 p.m.”
